In January and November 2018, I accompanied the 'Save a Child's Heart' medical delegation to Tanzania, in cooperation with a German cardiology team. The mission is to save lives by means of cardiac catheterization, open-heart surgeries, and diagnostics for the purpose of follow up treatment in Israel.

The encounter with African culture, with its colorful human colors, filled me with a strong desire to present things as they are, with an emphasis on the compassion, dedication and important work of the 'Save a Child's Heart' volunteers. The scenes and experiences involved in saving children's lives are reflected in the series of photographs documenting the encounter between despair and hope.
